There is every indication to suggest that our world has reached a point of crisis that requires a fresh and increasing social capacity for creative imagination and reason. In this way, we can better respond to the challenges posed by the effects of a social system that has essentially broken down and a world environment that is collapsing under the demands of an unsustainable civilization.
It is also evident that people from all of the world’s cultures are becoming a global society that is deeply intertwined in its dealings and wholly interconnected for our survival. Therefore, common sense indicates that it is imperative that we, humanity, in order to deal with this common crisis, move towards establishing a new level of presence for ourselves as a species and embrace, in addition to our role as local citizens, a new role as global citizens. As global citizens we can act on behalf of the whole Earth as our local home in the solar system.
Global citizenship has yet to be defined. Examples of what it may be are needed. WPMP provides one such example.
