November 30, 2002 Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina ~ Point of Peace #2
|
Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina was a marathon to its completion because of the small time frame in which it was made possible. I learned about a musician named Emir Bukovica living in Fort Myers, Florida from an article in the Fort Myers News-Press that outlined the story of the young musician rock star who was caught in the middle of the war in Bosnia and his remarkable journey to freedom in America. Emir with the encouragement of musician friends in Southwest Florida resumed his musical career and assembled a group called "Emir & The Frozen Camels" that at the time I came into the picture, was preparing to tour Europe. The opportunity for a second Peace Marker immediately after the debut of Peace Marker U.S.A. was wonderful but challenging because of the limited time to do it. Thanks to Emir Bukovica, Brent Scheneman, Danny Shepard, Darrel Nutt, Cliff Williams and several of Emir's friends in Bosnia, the international arrangements for the acceptance of the Peace Marker were made and confirmed. I hurried the construction and Triumphantly on November 27th, 2002 after a few tense moments at the Miami International Airport with just minutes to spare I finally connected with Emir behind the security zone and handed him the Peace Marker package. Peace Marker Bosnia - Herzegovina was on its way on board a Lufthansa German Airlines flight. Lufthansa and TSA were most helpful to WPMP. I’m most grateful to them and, in particular, Ms. Patricia Kaligin and Ms. Laura Griffen of TSA.

It follows that on November 29, 2002 we received news that the unveiling of Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina was going to be simultaneous with the unveiling of Peace Marker U.S.A. That meant that “points of peace” in two continents were coming into existence at the same time. We had done a remarkable feat in just a couple of weeks. True to Rock 'n Roll tradition Emir & Frozen Camels added the Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina to the tour and introduced the audience to WPMP and the marker on stage at a concert the night before the unveiling ceremony.

I'm honored to extend my gratitude to all of the people involved in this “point of peace” and urge those of you whose names are missing from the credits to submit them to me for posting. It is important that as we continue to add points of peace to the planet that we get to know each other by name since we have already met by our desire to establish peace as a next frontier for humanity. Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina was made in Cape Coral, Florida at the Waltzing Waters Inc. fabricating facilities by Jeff Elliott and engraved at the TK Machine Inc. facilities by Timothy Morey and Kurt Esposito. | Peace Marker Bosnia-Herzegovina is
received in Gorazde By Tiité August 10.2007 WPMP Bosnia i Herzegovina Ambassador Emir Bukovica delivers Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina to its final destination in his hometown of Gorazde on August 10th at the closing of the 10th International Festival of Friendship- Gorazde 2007. Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina had been temporarily housed in the museum of the city of Zenica pending the arrangements for its final home in Gorazde. I must extend my deepest gratitude to the museum and to the people of Zenica for their involvement in the custody of the marker.
Ambassador Bukovica met with Mayor of Gorazde Mr. Mustafa Kurtovic in his office to arrange the official acceptance. At that time he also delivered the mayor a letter from city of Cape Coral, Florida Mayor Eric Feichthaler thereby establishing common ties between the two cities as points of peace in the world. At the official ceremony, Emir was joined on stage by the Mayor of Gorazde Mr. Mustafa Kurtovic who officially accepted Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina before an audience of 10,000 people.
Emir shares Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina with the crowd after having introduced them to the WPMP project and its mission of world peace.
10, 000 people came in contact with the WPMP ideal and one special guest from Florida became "person of the day" in Bosnia i Herzegovina, veteran Bluesman and exceptional guitarist Danny Shepard. Danny was honored for his participation on the Festival and for lending his presence to the ideals of world peace. Danny had a lot to do with the initial effort to take Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina to Zenica and now he was back to see the marker reach its final destination in Gorazde.
Danny joined the festivities on stage and performed with Emir and Frozen Camels during the Friendship festival. Danny has been a long time collaborator and recording presence with Emir and Frozen Camels as well as a respected studio and performing musician in the United States. Ambassador Emir Bukovica is joined by Danny Shepard and Gorazde's Mayor Mr. Mustafa Kurtovic back stage at the Friendship Festival.
Following the presentation of Peace Marker Bosnia i Herzegovina in Gorazde, on August 19, 2007 Emir and Frozen Camels joined by Danny Shepard, performed in Belgrade - Serbia to an audience of 100,000 people.
World peace is happening one step at a time, one point of peace at a time, one nation at a time. What we are witnessing here is a completely new dynamic to the idea of peace, we have begun to experience the environment that constitutes peace beyond the mere desire for peace or the collective awareness that peace must be found. These experiences are showing how peace is gaining a footing in the lives and culture of civilization. Thank you Ambassador Emir Bukovica and everyone who came to create this wonderful act of world peace. Tiité |
