The Worldwide Peace Marker Project is derived from a direction in art called Data A art. Simply stated Data A, is art that is reconciled with life, the reconciliation is the embedded spirit of the work around which the art invites life to be a participant of the overall creative experience.

When life is a part of the work of art, art transcends or goes beyond the ordinary limits of the work of art to become a part of the forward motion of time therefore the narrative of the art is time variable or changes with time as the narrative is affected by time.

Because of that time variability, Data A art is easily differentiated from all other art by the fact that the works themselves present a distinguishable separation between the "past" and the "now" so that the viewer, while aware of the past, can focus upon the now in order to react to the content of its narrative more clearly. In a very real sense, Data A art is distinguished by its characteristic ability to separate or to filter out the past from the now in the same way that modern recording devises separate the noise from the signal as it were. The only difference is that Data A does it experientially.

The name Data came from the observation that all of human knowledge exists as information which is generally regarded as Data. the letter A, was added, to imply a first plan for the application of those Data in a new plan or context as in Data A.

The motivation behind Data A art, comes from the perception that human civilization is in need of new dreams as more of the same would not do. New dreams require a different way of looking at the world and Data A provides an aesthetic to do that.

Data A art is about the use of  information as "Data" (embracing the context of all human knowledge) and extending its narrative into a new conceptual transitional direction "A" which is informed by a new developing organizing principle that is independent from the original data set.

The new organizing principle behind the new transitional direction proposed by the knowledge platform "A," is simply based upon a new developing relationship between human nature and Nature at large, that is, a relationship that is based upon a new mutual partnership.

Put in another way, human nature evolved into a force of nature because of our ability to change the nature of the world. Nature had been the primary force until we developed that ability, however, we also have come to realize that

 Therefore the new relationship is really between two forces one human the other natural. That constitutes a new organizing principle just as our use of fire and its translation into war is thought to have been the organizing principle behind the development of human nature in our species (Homo sapiens.)

Data A art as a direction of aesthetic inquiry is just emerging into public view, however its underpinning particulars have been developing for decades now. One of the

Data A art is a creative direction concerned with the future in the context of life (all life).

The word “data” is used to reference information, all information, the universe as information, nature as information and human consciousness as information. In that fashion, data refers to the general idea that all known information is "data" as used and understood by the human species. As we have come to a new junction in our survival outlook due to the effect of our activity and the state of the planet due to such activity.

therefore, since a new approach to human activity has to be found because we already know that the old approach will not service then, is if fairly obvious that the new activity will have to be being separate from the old must have a designation to keep things in perspective and be able to tell the old from the new. That distinction is provided by the capital letter "A" as in Data A.

Clearly Data A is simply an aesthetic devise meant to create a separation between all that we have become as a species  and a new "plan A" if you will, moving forward towards what we can still accomplish as a species. Data A art therefore, is indicative of an art direction that is primarily concerned with the future as an ongoing journey from the now. One can even say, that Data A art embraces Nature as an extension of our conscious sphere where a true partnership between their data holds the best chance of a planet earth with us in it as co-architects with nature of all life.

Why Data A?

Because the new challenges affect all social, cultural, political, economic, religious and environmental spheres and are new and unique to the 21st century. Therefore, the arts must respond to these challenges just as it has in previous centuries with new aesthetic lenses through which life can be seen in a new light  and contribute that way to the culture of how we may react to said challenges.

There is no doubt that this century poses critical survival problems at a scale that humanity had never seen before and for which only truly new ideas will service.  Data A art therefore is one of many possible responses which dramatically enters the century with a number of truly new ideas and aesthetic relationships.

What Makes Data A art a 21st century response?

Many things do, but most prominently, the fact that it is an art direction that is or that can be fully reconciled with life in both principle and actual practice. In the 20th century there were brilliant attempts to reconcile art with life which provided the way forward for the aesthetic of Data A art.

Data A art proposes for observation an aesthetic that extends the reconciliation ideal, to include the world at large. That is, a reconciliation amongst and between the human species and the planet's biosphere. It is thought that for life on Earth moving forward, only a partnership between us and Nature at large may secure a world for future generations an a planet that future generation can sustain.
