WPMP Ambassador

Nurcan Turkoglu

Peace Marker Turkey gets its yearly make over!

WPMP Artist Ambassador Nurcan Turkoglu shares with us images of Peace Marker Turkey, after it was maintained for the year in the lovely surroundings of Freedom Park in Kadikoy.

Ambassador Nurcan is very keen about pointing out the energy exchange between us humans at this moment in history, so how fortunate that she somehow captured a light glow at the site to express that sentiment as Peace Marker Turkey is maintained as one point of peace in our world that is active and radiant.

It is hard not to notice the presence of cats around that reside in the park in images gathered over the years. I have come to see them as Ambassadors from Nature doing the honor guard duty around the Peace Marker.

Thank you Ambassador Turkoglu, for honoring the project with your dedication and for representing Turkey with such honor.

A visit to Peace Marker Turkey on November 1, 2007 assembled an international delegation of collaborators of the WPMP. Freedom park is a magical place where the world has a point of peace that constantly radiates outward the energy that defines world peace.

Ambassador/artist Nurcan Turkoglu (center right) of Kadikay, Turkey and WPMP director, Tiite' Baquero (center left) of the USA, are flanked by WPMP delegates (counter-clockwise from right) Salwa Zeidan (Lebanon), Cigdem Banu Ant (Turkey), Omar Zeidan (UAE), Brent Scheneman (USA), Eliza Monet (Germany) and Kalon Baquero (USA).

Peace Marker Turkey gets a more personal attention

On November 23, 2007 WPMP Artist Ambassador Nurcan Turkoglu (left) and two of her friends Vildan Korkmazel and Cigdem Ant (right) undertook the task to maintain the physical Peace Marker in its home at Freedom park in the Asian side of Istanbul.

Peace Marker Turkey is being polished and its pedestal gets a new coat of urethane varnish. Behind this labor of love is the greater and deeper meaning that in the midst of tending to the needs of a point of peace in the world, we are also paving the way for one of the most important developments of the 21st century, namely, the institution of world peace as an event with real physical and cultural consequences.

Ambassador Nurcan Turkoglu and other friends of the project carried out maintenance of Peace Marker Turkey, leading to the preparations for the anniversary event on March 8, 2008.

Thank you everyone.

The Cosmoz Painting Circle group with Peace Tree, the participating artists for the third anniversary were:

Asuman Korap, Nadya Sayınar, Jale, Ayse Emre, Nurcan Turkoglu, Medıha Ozkoc, Saba, Ayla Kocak, Metın Turgut, Zeynep Gole, Incı Sensoy and Eser Eken.

The works of art shown, were installed at various parts of the park surrounding the Peace Marker Turkey. All of them are a celebration of some aspect of the developing culture of world peace. These artists are pioneers who are at the moment of creation of the first instances of peace as an independent agency of human culture.

World peace or peace for that matter is just emerging and no one really knows its effective form, we are however documenting the first footprints of those who like these artists, are moving forward on its unique path.

The path of world peace is easy to distinguish from any other path, as it is the path where there are no other footprints to be found in front. This is because we are the first travelers on this path, as the brief history of humanity reveals, all the known paths to peace have been paved with war.

This new path however, is being paved with a global consciousness of peace, considered as an extension of human ability to embrace the diversity of a single species that is maturing to embrace a culture of world peace.

This child is the recipient of our work his world will know world peace.

Congratulations Ambassador Nurcan Turkoglu and members of the Cosmoz Painting Circle, I'm honored to journey with you towards world peace.
