MAP OF SLOVENIA

The Slovene lands were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the latter's dissolution at the end of World War I. In 1918, the Slovenes joined the Serbs and Croats in forming a new multinational state, which was named Yugoslavia in 1929. After World War II, Slovenia became a republic of the renewed Yugoslavia, which though Communist, distanced itself from Moscow's rule. Dissatisfied with the exercise of power by the majority Serbs, the Slovenes succeeded in establishing their independence in 1991 after a short 10-day war. Historical ties to Western Europe, a strong economy, and a stable democracy have assisted in Slovenia's transformation to a modern state. Slovenia acceded to both NATO and the EU in the spring of 2004.

WPMP Artist Ambassador Dea Hediya Music was nominated into the project by WPMP Artist Ambassador to Lebanon Salwa Zeidan. Ms. Music embraced the mission of the project and proceeded to make a number of remarkable efforts that culminated in the unveiling of Peace Marker Slovenia as the eight point of peace in the history of civilization.

Ms. Music was born in Litija and is a graduate of the School of Economics in Ljubljana, and has worked most of her life on National Radio and TV Station in Ljubljana, as producer and host of many popular Radio and TV Shows. She has performed as singer in many groups and as a solo performer. Ms. Music has recorded 5 albums.

Peace Marker Slovenia is another example of the way that the uniqueness of each nation and its cultural identity flows into the idea of world peace. One can say that with each new Peace Marker, we come ever closer to the reality that the diversity of the human species can collectively generate and experience a new cultural experience that can be identified as world peace.
