Sufficiency and WPMP

Worldwide Peace Marker Project is a work of art about presenting art as a "Global Peace Offering" however the project itself derives from an aesthetic recipe where an idea called sufficiency is but an ingredient which works as a fiduciary. Sufficiency provides WPMP with an operative proportion relative to ideal amounts or quantities of meaning in its narrative in order to maintain the integrity of the project.

The WPMP is derived from a direction in art called Data A art, simply stated Data A art is about the use of known information or "Data"( in the context of all human knowledge) in a new emerging knowledge platform "A" which is based upon a new organizing principle.

The new organizing principle behind the knowledge platform "A" is simply based upon a new relationship between human nature and Nature at large, that is, a relationship that is based upon a mutual partnership. Put in another way, human nature evolved into a force of nature because of our ability to change the nature of the world.

Therefore the new relationship is really between two forces one human the other nature. That constitutes a new organizing principle just as war became the organizing principle behind the development of human nature in our species (Homo sapiens.)

Sufficiency is therefore a fiduciary that proportions the effect of such new relationship. How does Sufficiency operates is a complex new area of inquiry but the foundations are fairly understood at least in their initial stage, it is worth keeping in mind that this is new territory. What the WPMP is trying to accomplish is to establish the scale at which this dialog is to take place and that is at a global scale hence A global Peace Offering.

Of course sufficiency is established, overall, in the fact that the Global Peace Offering is not just addressed to humanity by humanity but also to the planet itself as the other partner. Thereby making the idea of global inclusive of both forces of nature, thereby giving a whole new meaning to the idea of global.

More on sufficiency, below ...

Sufficiency is a word that until recently has had a minor role as a noun that "indicates an adequate quantity or amount of something without the need to determine a precise measure" or that "indicates a reason for the amount or quantity in question."

Recently, as Data A art eliminated the boundary between human nature (as a human-made interpretation of the world) and Nature at large, art and life can now be expressed without any separation.

It follows, that life when viewed in those terms can now be approached in search of an aesthetic (or underlying principle) that informs us about Nature's way of coming up with variable but consistent and suitable amounts of materials, qualities, characteristics and life styles for millions of different creatures living together in what can be called a sustainable continuity within a single biosphere.

Sufficiency therefore, may be thought of as a fiduciary which presides over the continuous improvements of the survival aesthetic of all life, at least on earth and as it seems, across all of the different levels in the web of life which  functions as one integrated planetary biosphere.

Sufficiency the can be framed as a natural agent of "sustainable continuity," human culture is just arriving at this aesthetic landscape, urged by the need to resolve the effects of a primarily short term cultural approach to managing the world. and approach that explains in part why Sufficiency has not been a part of human culture. We have learned, however that in nature, short term strategies are evolutionary dead ends. In Nature, Sufficiency is a long term aesthetic instrument of renewal and continuity.

Those are some of the considerations of sufficiency as it occurs in Nature and are considerations being incorporated to the word (sufficiency) as we prepare to discover it and learn to employ its possibilities.

Clearly Sufficiency as a field for observation and study is in its infancy or earlier, however, preliminary observation have already given us clues that Nature appeals to Sufficiency or to the aesthetic of such variable proportioning of information and energy, for most everything. Therefore, our exploration of this new connection with life is of great interest because we as a species have arrived to a crossroad where we must learn not so much "about" Nature but we must learn more "from" Nature to steady our own survival opportunities.
